While many people would love to be compared to Darth Vader, this was not the case for a British public health employee. After her colleagues likened her to the iconic supervillain, she filed a complaint about this “injury.” Surprisingly, she won her case and received a substantial compensation.
There’s no denying that it’s a bad time to embody Darth Vader. A few weeks ago, it was revealed that this iconic character would not appear in his series Andor, despite fans’ hopes. Recently, the White House shared an AI-generated image of Donald Trump as a muscular Sith Lord, which did not go over well. Now, a National Health Service (NHS) employee in the UK has been awarded nearly £29,000 (around €34,000) for being compared to him.
The employee in question is Lorna Rooke, who works in the blood donation branch. She felt deeply offended after one of her colleagues took a personality test themed around Star Wars in her name and told other staff members that Lorna belonged in the same category as Darth Vader. It’s worth noting that this incident took place in August 2021 while Lorna—who had been a training and practice supervisor for the NHS blood and transplant service since 2003—was on a personal phone call.
The personality test in question was based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which classifies individuals into 16 categories based on their levels of introversion, intuition, decision-making based on thoughts or feelings, and judging or perceiving their surroundings. It should be noted that the official Myers-Briggs test has no connection to fictional or real characters. Regardless, the comparison was made, and Lorna found out about it. As a result, she felt very “unpopular” among her colleagues and eventually decided to resign.
However, the story doesn’t end there. Her indignation led her to take the matter to court. Despite the defense’s arguments that the Sith Lord has positive attributes, the judge ruled in favor of the plaintiff, stating that it was indeed a workplace disadvantage.
Additionally, Disney has faced a lawsuit for resurrecting a deceased actor in a Star Wars film.

I’m a disabled, xennial Christ-follower, slightly off kilter (but aren’t all “ar-teeests”?).
Hope you enjoy my rantings, don’t take my sarcasm too seriously and know that comments are welcome. 🙂
