Zoe's Bible lesson for today was on Jesus' parable of The Pharisee and Tax Collector found in Luke 18:9-14. By the way, we're using "Countdown to Easter: Daily Lenten Devotions for Children" by Ruth Geisler. The Kindle version is just .99 cents, so you may want to just go ahead and download it today. Now on to the scripture:

9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable:

10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.

12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Amen. I really can't stand the attitudes of self-righteous, conceited braggarts. Granted, it's easy too fall prey to the temptation to gloat, but when it comes to supposed-Godliness, I cringe. Even with "humble brags". After discussing the readings, I went over to YouTube and played a fun little Lego lesson video... which I'm sharing with you. Enjoy!

I love that she gives two well-aimed upraised middle fingers: one to the abortion culture of the Left, and one to the Randian Makers vs. Takers class warriors of the Right. She’s one of my heros."
